  • CBT focuses on your thoughts and beliefs and how this shapes your feelings and behaviour towards yourself and others. Often stemming from specific events and the meaning given to them, you can find yourself in a cycle of negative thought loops which in turn, can be debilitating and harmful and prevent you from moving forward with your life. CBT is extremely effective in treating trauma related issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem etc along with other conditions that include insomnia, eating disorders, phobias and substance abuse or addiction, they can all be helped, improved and in some cases eradicated with this form of psychotherapy. It is a collaborative process with an end goal of having learned strategies to greatly improve your mental health, for some, CBT is life changing.

"Your beliefs, either positive or negative, helpful or hurtful, largely determine everything you do and how you do it.

  • Both Counselling and Psychotherapy offer you a safe space to talk about your life with a trained professional in full confidentiality, the former being a short term consultation perhaps to help you work through a single specific problem or situation, and the latter being a longer term treatment plan that may cover an intersection of struggles that you are experiencing. From relationship difficulties, to poor self image, to lack of purpose and meaning in your life, through to childhood or sexual trauma, psychotherapy can help you to work through any, or all of these. Feelings of overwhelm, lack of control or stability can make facing these problems very difficult, particularly if you're doing it alone; together, we can work through these issues and help you to regain some or all of your life back.

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation Therapy addresses the stress responses that are part of our natural fight, flight or freeze instincts that occur when experiencing a traumatic event or situation, in these moments the brain can become overloaded and does not process these experiences properly which causes distress that can stay with you for years and take you back to 'that moment' at any given time, as a result it is particularly effective in treating trauma and PTSD. Using targeted eye movement, it is possible to access the natural healing of the mind to facilitate the reduction of distress associated with these memories, this healing of the mind is similar to that which occurs when in an REM state of sleep. Eye movement is guided by a finger or a light bar, you will be given coping strategies to prepare you for the eye movement and be fully supported throughout the process.
