MEDITATIONS FOR AN AUTUMN RESET
“LEAVES, TWIGS & STONES”
From the dew-soaked hedge creeps a crawly caterpillar,
When the dawn begins to crack.
It's all part of my autumn almanac.
Breeze blows leaves of a musty-coloured yellow,
So I sweep them in my sack.
Yes, yes, yes, it's my autumn almanac.
(The Kinks: Autumn Almanac 1967)
According to the meteorological calendar the first day of autumn falls on September 1 and according to the astrological calendar the first day of autumn (the Autumn Equinox) falls this year on Saturday September 23.
The word ‘equinox’ means ‘equal night’ where theoretically we should experience 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. In many countries there are ancient celebrations linked to these dates. In England perhaps the harvest festival can be counted as ours.
In this workshop we will look back at our summer experiences, some joyful, some painful, and look forward to how we might cope with the changes that autumn may bring. Using mindfulness, meditations, music, leaves, twigs and stones (your own exercise mats, cushions, blankets, leaves, twigs and stones welcome) we will explore the meaning of autumn for ourselves individually, and then bring them together to compose a collective insight that we can take away and utilise for our individual benefit until winter arrives on my birthday this year.
The three hours of our workshop will be split into numerous parts, each designed to suggest and offer alternative paths of feeling, thinking and doing.
There will be a 15 minute comfort break with complimentary autumn fruit juices and tray bakes (vegan/gf) available.
£20 workshop fee, maximum of 12 places offered.
